Human Immune Response In Wildland Firefighters

The Montana Center for Work Physiology and Exercise Metabolism (Montana WPEM) will present a human clinical study at the Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine, showing that wildland firefighters who consumed a yeast based (beta glucan) antioxidant supplement, Wellmune WGP®, had far fewer - 23 percent- upper respiratory tract infections, compared to a similar group of firefighters taking a placebo.Montana WPEM Director Brent C.

Study Showed Alimta(R) (Pemetrexed For Injection) Improved Survival In Certain Types Of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

UK Government Air Monitoring Studies Flawed Putting Air Passengers And Crew At Further Risk

The Global Cabin Air Quality Executive (GCAQE) is the leading organisation globally representing air crew with regard to cabin air quality, specifically contaminated air issues, consisting of over 20 organisations, representing 500,000 aviation workers globally.The GCAQE is pleased that the UK Government recognises there is an issue with aircraft air quality but believes action to protect the public is needed rather than further research.

Wyeth Receives Approvable Letter From FDA For TYGACIL For The Treatment Of Patients With Community Acquired Pneumonia

Alfacell Corporation Announces Preliminary Results From ONCONASE(R) Phase IIIb Clinical Trial

Alfacell Corporation (Nasdaq: ACEL) announced that the preliminary statistical analysis of data from its confirmatory Phase IIIb clinical trial of its lead compound, ONCONASE (ranpirnase), did not meet statistical significance for the primary endpoint of survival in unresectable malignant mesothelioma (UMM). However, a statistically significant improvement in survival was seen in the treatment of UMM patients who failed one prior chemotherapy regimen.

Undiagnosed Chronic Airflow Obstruction Results In Work Loss And Impairs Quality Of Life

The awareness of the individual and societal burden of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) continues to increase. However, data on the impact of the disease in workers are scarce. Nicolas Roche (University René Descartes in Paris, France) and his colleagues studied 5,008 subjects visiting health prevention centres in France. Prevalence of airflow obstruction was 7.5%. A diagnosis of respiratory disease was reported for only 6.1% of these subjects.
