PARI’s EFlow Delivers Alnylam RNAi Therapeutic In Phase II Study

An optimized PARI eFlow platform nebulizer will be delivering Alnylam's ALN-RSV01 in a Phase II human clinical trial that has begun enrolling patients. ALN-RSV01 is a RNAi therapeutic being developed as a treatment for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection, the leading cause of pediatric hospitalization in the U.S. and a prevalent infection in immune-compromised adults. RSV currently does not have a viable treatment option.

Top Three CO2 Emitting US Counties Are Houston, Los Angeles And Chicago

The top twenty carbon dioxide-emitting counties in the United States have been identified by a research team led by Purdue University. The top three counties include the cities of Houston, Los Angeles and Chicago. Kevin Gurney, an assistant professor of earth and atmospheric science at Purdue University and leader of the carbon dioxide inventory project, which is called Vulcan, says the biggest surprise is that each region of the United States is included in the ranking.

An Option For Poor Families Could Be Homemade Asthma-Relief Device

When an asthma attack occurs, many sufferers use a device - a "spacer" - to increase the chances that rescue medicine travels from an inhaler all the way down to the airways where it is needed. A new review of studies found no difference between the effectiveness of commercially manufactured devices and homemade spacers - sometimes fashioned from a plastic soda bottle or a Styrofoam cup.

Reviewers Say Children Should Not Take Antihistamines For Chronic Cough

Chronic cough can cut into children's sleep and fray parents' nerves. Although antihistamines can alleviate cough, possible side effects outweigh their benefits, say authors of a new review of studies from Australia."In contrast to recommendations in adults with chronic cough, antihistamines cannot be recommended as empirical therapy for children with chronic cough," conclude reviewers led by Dr. Anne Chang.
