N30 Pharma Announces Successful Initiation Of Human Studies With N30-201

N30 Pharma (N30), a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of respiratory drugs that target endogenous s-nitrosothiols, announced that it has successfully completed Phase 1 study of N30-201 in healthy volunteers. N30 intends to develop N30-201 for the treatment of reactive and obstructive airway diseases, including Cystic Fibrosis and asthma.

ImaRx Therapeutics Receives Urokinase Lot Release Approval With Extended Expiration Dating

ImaRx Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMRX) announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the company's most current lot release request for urokinase drug product. This is the first lot to be released with extended expiration dating. Urokinase, ImaRx's first commercially available FDA-approved product, is a thrombolytic or clot-dissolving agent indicated for the treatment of acute massive pulmonary embolism.

Alnylam Reports Positive Phase II Data For ALN-RSV01, An RNAi Therapeutic For The Treatment Of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Infection

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ALNY), a leading RNAi therapeutics company, reported positive data for the ALN-RSV01 Phase II experimental infection study, now called "GEMINI." The GEMINI study was designed to evaluate the safety and anti-viral activity of ALN-RSV01, an RNAi therapeutic for the treatment of RSV infection. Top-line results show that ALN-RSV01 was safe and well tolerated and demonstrated statistically significant anti-viral activity.

Marijuana Smokers Face Rapid Lung Destruction - As Much As 20 Years Ahead Of Tobacco Smokers

A study in a Wiley-Blackwell journal - Respirology - finds that the development of bullous lung disease occurs in marijuana smokers approximately 20 years earlier than tobacco smokers. A condition often caused by exposure to toxic chemicals or long-term exposure to tobacco smoke, bullous lung disease (also known as bullae) is a condition where air trapped in the lungs causes obstruction to breathing and eventual destruction of the lungs.

The Lung Association launched "Stop Smoking in Cars! Our Kids Deserve It!" - a nationwide campaign designed to help Canadians push their provincial governments to tackle the issue of smoking in cars where children are present.
