AARC Comments On Home Sleep Testing

AARC (American Association for Respiratory Care) has submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on home sleep testing, urging CMS to assure the competency of those individuals who will be administering the test. CMS is in the process of determining if Medicare should revise its current policy on sleep diagnostic testing. Current policy limits the Medicare covered tests to sleep facilities or laboratories. May Is The Month For Asthma Awareness

May is just around the corner, and that means asthma is once again taking its place on the national and international stage. The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) will be celebrating Allergy and Asthma Month here in the U.S., and World Asthma Day is coming up May 1. Patients May Benefit From COPD Research Registry, USA

The COPD Foundation is taking the lead in COPD research to build toward progress in finding better protocols, medicines, and a cure. AARC, which participates in the COPD Foundation, is helping to spread the word about this new registry that can help move research on COPD. American Association For Respiratory Care Seeks Clarification On Brovana Reimbursement

AARC has contacted CMS to request clarification on their policies for the reimbursement of Brovana (arfomoterol) in the home care setting. Brovana, a new long-acting beta agonist (LABA), has recently been introduced, but has not yet been assigned a reimbursement code for home use. Therefore, availability of the medication to patients discharged from the hospital may be limited, interrupting the continuity of care and depriving patients of an efficacious medication.
