Large Waist Nearly Doubles Death Risk

A new study of people in Europe found that having a large waist nearly doubled the risk of premature death regardless of whether they were overweight or not and supports the idea that waist size or waist to hip ratio should be used to assess risk of death.

Obesity Goes Above 20% Among Adults - Smoking Ban Working, Wales

Effectiveness Of Steroids Reduced In Obese Asthma Patients

Researchers at National Jewish Health have shown that glucocorticoids, the primary controller medication for asthma, are 40 percent less effective in overweight and obese asthma patients than in those of normal weight. Obese Patients Have Nearly Five Times Greater Risk Of Hospitalization For Asthma, Kaiser Permanente Study Finds

Obese people who have asthma are nearly five times more likely to be hospitalized for the condition than non-obese people with asthma, according to a Kaiser Permanente study published in the September issue of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

Asthma-Obesity Study Rules Out Link Between Systemic And Airway Inflammation

Scientists in New Zealand found that while they observed systemic and airway inflammation in people with obesity and asthma, two diseases that are known to be strongly linked in some way, there was no clear evidence of an interaction between the two.
